The Richard and Geraldine Storella Educational Trust is honored to announce its 2026 scholarship recipients, with a total of $25,000 awarded to three graduating seniors from Quincy High School.

This year’s recipients are:
    •    Edward Giza – awarded $10,000 to attend the College of the Holy Cross, where he will study History and Music.
    •    Ramona Bentzel – awarded $10,000 to attend Bryn Mawr College, where she will pursue a degree in Mathematics.
    •    Sophia Paccioretti – awarded $5,000 and plans to pursue a degree in Occupational Therapy. She is currently undecided on which college she will attend.

The Storella Educational Trust was created by Richard Storella in honor of his wife, Geraldine (Gerry) Storella, to support hardworking students with a connection to their Italian heritage as they pursue post-secondary education. Awards may be applied to college, trade school, or certification programs. Applicants are evaluated not only on academics, but also on life experiences, work ethic, citizenship, and their connection to Italian culture.

Gerry Storella was born and raised in Quincy and graduated as valedictorian of Quincy High School’s Class of 1955. A cheerleader and community leader, Gerry went on to attend Boston University’s College of Business Administration and later became the first female member of the QHS Hall of Fame.

Throughout their 53-year marriage, Richard and Gerry were deeply committed to the Quincy community—coaching and volunteering for Quincy Youth Hockey, supporting the Thomas Crane Public Library, and promoting local history through the Quincy Historical Society.

Through this scholarship, their legacy of education, service, and cultural pride continues to support future generations.

The board members of the Richard and Geraldine Storella Educational Trust are Lawrence Taglieri (former principal of Quincy High School); Dr. Brian Jolley and Sister Denise Martucci (family friends of Mr. and Mrs. Storella); and Anthony S. Falco, Esq. (Trustee).
