Position Opening: Legal Assistant

Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team as a Legal Assistant. The ideal candidate will assist office support in various administrative tasks and document preparation. This position offers the opportunity for growth into a Paralegal role for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the organization and preparation of files for client appointments and meetings.
  • Sending out draft documents to relevant parties, both physically and electronically.
  • Compiling binders, including scanning, copying, and organizing documents, and preparing cover letters for distribution.
  • Fulfilling requests for additional copies of documents from clients or their representatives.
  • Conducting deed searches via the Register of Deeds (ROD) website.
  • Making edits to documents as per client feedback.
  • Preparing documents for execution, including entering dates, arranging for notarization, and ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
  • Scanning and organizing old files for archival purposes.
  • Assisting with general office tasks including filing and miscellaneous administrative duties.

What we are Seeking in You:

  • You possess exceptional attention to detail.
  • You have strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is recommended.
  • You communicate professionally and courteously, whether in person, over the phone, or via email.
  • You are familiar with scanning equipment and document management systems.

Preferred but not Required Skills:

  • Preparing original documents for retention by clients or their representatives, ensuring proper documentation and filing procedures are followed.
  • Recording documents via Simplifile and maintaining accurate records.
  • Drafting and proofreading legal documents including but not limited to Power of Attorney (POA), Healthcare Proxy (HCP), HIPAA authorizations, Wills, Trusts, Deeds, and other legal instrument.

  • $40-50k Salary Range 
  • 20 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) annually.
